FAQ-Semi-Permanent-Makeup

No, this is a semi-permanent tattoo. The semi-permanent makeup artist is only going to the 3rd layer of the epidermis. Also, the pigments used are different than permanent tattoo pigments, as they are made to fade over time.

Any semi-permanent makeup procedure is NOT recommended to be done while a cancer patient is undergoing treatment. The immune system is extremely compromised at this time and can lead to healing complications and even infection.

Touch-ups are important as it’s the perfecting section! They are recommended 4-6 weeks after your initial appointment.  It is best to make minor adjustments after healing from your initial appointment.

Periodic touch-ups insure that the results will last for years if that is your goal. Annual touch-ups are important, as the semi-permanent makeup is meant to fade over time. Touch-ups will insure results and pigment stay consistent.

We will send you home with aftercare instructions that covers what to expect. Overall you will have scabbing and itching consistent with a scratch. After that phase is over the healing is fairly simple. Just make sure to avoid the things your artist advises you to stay away from while healing (examples: direct sunlight, saunas, tanning beds, scratching or itching the area serviced).

The reaction varies person to person, so it’s not the same for everyone. The majority of clients don’t feel a thing since we use numbing agents throughout the whole service. The first numbing agent sits on the skin for 20 minutes, and the second numbing agent is used throughout the service. We are not going as deep as a tattoo, but we are still breaking the skin- so there may be some discomfort depending on pain tolerance.

Wonderful! Our first step is scheduling a free consultation where you and your artist will go over your semi-permanent makeup goals and also make sure you are a good candidate for semi-permanent makeup. After that we will schedule your appointment!

The semi-permanent makeup process is scheduled for 4 hours at the most. The time needed varies by service, the least being the Freckles which we schedule for 2 hours.

If annual touchups are done, the semi-permanent makeup can last for as many years as you desire. Young skin has more cell turnover, so the chances of needing an annual touch up is greater than mature skin that has less cell turnover and therefore holds pigment longer.

Oily skin tends to push pigment out faster than normal to dry skin, and this can impact how often touch-ups are needed.

If touch-ups are not used, the semi-permanent makeup will last 1-3 years, depending on skin type and lifestyle.

OMBRE BROWS/POWDER BROWS: Ombré shading is a semi-permanent eyebrow styling technique that uses a small machine to place extremely thin dots of pigment into the skin, creating a soft-shaded brow pencil look. The Powder Brows technique is the same, it’s just a matter of how much you want layered. Powder Brows will give more of a solid color throughout.

MICROBLADING BROWS: A hand-held tool is used with a very fine blade to draw individual hairs on your skin. This creates the visual impression of full and perfectly shaped, beautiful eyebrows. This natural-looking technique creates super-fine hair strokes that last 1 to 2 years with proper care.

COMBO BROWS: Microblading + Shading results in  Combo Brows to give you natural-looking yet well-defined brows all at once. You get the best of both worlds! Combo Brows are great for people with little to no eyebrows, or those with asymmetrical eyebrows. This service achieves a fuller and natural look.

For all of the above brow services, a touch-up is needed within 4-6 weeks after your initial semi-permanent makeup session.
